Top 10 Western Europan Countries For Digital TV Growth

Western European countries ranked by rate of digital TV households growth

** ALERT - TOP 10 WESTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES BY DIGITAL TV GROWTH - Today, e-Media Institute released its 2009 list of the fastest growing digital TV countries in Western Europe. With a 48% growth in the number of digital TV households during the year ended June 2009, Portugal was by far the leading country within this special ranking.

Belgium (40% growth), Greece (38%), France (37%) and the Netherlands (35%) rounded out the top 5 positions in the ranking. Other countries within the top 10 include Austria, Spain, Norway, Italy, and Germany.

With terrestrial services switching to digital or approaching analogue switch-off, 18.6 million TV households in these 10 countries as an aggregate (more than 14% of the total) switched to digital TV services on their primary TV set during the year to June 2009.
