Leading publishing and television groups in Europe ranked by media revenue in 2005.

Companies included in this list ("Media Groups") are those whose main activities in terms of revenues are developed in publishing and broadcasting (TV, press, radio, multimedia, etc.). Groups mainly operating in sectors such as telecommunications, software, marketing services and film and TV production are not included.

Groups are ranked by revenues from media activities.

The companies included in this list are majority owned by European shareholders.

Groups in this list are mostly press publishers and TV broadcasters (public and commercial). However, the largest European companies are conglomerates whose activities range from television/press to music. The total media revenues of the Top 20 Media Groups in Europe in 2005 were more than 88 billion euros. The total revenues from media activities of the Top 10 Media Groups were nearly 69% of total revenues.
